Football Initiation Program 5-6 Year Olds
Initiation Program: 5-6 Years Old
Welcome to the Vio Football School Initiation Program!
Our “sport kindergarten” is Australia’s premier start for young children’s soccer and physical development.
Perfect for Ages 5-6
- Designed for 5 and 6 year-olds, this program bridges early play and formal football training.
Build Lifelong Passion
- We ensure every child develops a love for the game and a healthy, active lifestyle.
Why Choose Our Initiation Program?
Modern lifestyles are often sedentary. Our program reverses this by reintroducing the joy of classic outdoor daily games.
To grow healthier and more athletic, we recommend children participate in physical activities at least twice every week.
Our Four Key Pillars
- Soccer-Specific Motor Skills.
- Running & Stopping on Command: Critical for game flow and safety.
- Dynamic Balance: Balancing on one foot for 3–5 seconds, which is necessary for kicking and changing direction without falling.
- Coordination & Agility: Movements such as hopping, skipping, and shuffling backward.
- Physical Awareness. Children recognise their bodies. They learn to understand the functional possibilities and specific limitations of their own physical movement.
- Social & Psychological Growth. Relays and tag games build self-confidence. Players learn to communicate, cooperate in groups, and show respect for others.
- Spatial Intelligence. Students learn field orientation. They master concepts of space and relative time, such as moving fast or slow.
Mastering the Ball
At Vio Football School, we believe the soccer ball should become a child’s “best friend”. Our training provides a diverse range of stimuli to ensure children become comfortable with the ball in all scenarios.
Your child will learn to:
- Correctly evaluate ball speed, flight height, and landing points.
- Understand the spin and bounces of the ball on different surfaces.
-
Confidently handle the ball on the ground and in the air while simultaneously controlling their body.
Our Practice Routine
Our sessions are dynamic and varied, moving beyond simple soccer drills to encompass total athletic coordination. Students will engage in:
- Dynamic Dribbling: Using right and left feet, understanding when to speedup and slow down with the ball, and practicing half and complete turns to improve agility.
- Creative Passing and Finishing: Learning essential techniques such as shooting on goals, passing between partners using different surfaces of the foot.
- Aerial Control: Receiving and controlling balls at various heights (hip, chest, and head) using different surfaces of the foot, often requiring quick 360-degree turns.
- Team Mini-Games: Participating in “Mini-World Cups” and team-based games to build coordination and teamwork.
The Pathway to Success
Once your child has achieved an acceptable level of coordination and motor skills—and has reached the age of 7—they are perfectly prepared to progress to the Football Basics Program, where they begin to tackle a variety of fundamental technical-tactical soccer situations.
My aim,
Is to support the healthy development of children who start out motivated to practice their favourite sport, football.
